I have a strange sleep schedule at times and often find myself turned around, working at night when everything is calm and quiet. The days are usually filled with schedules and feeling like I’m pulled in quite a few different directions.
The only drawback to enjoying the late night peace and stillness is that I still have to get up and meet the responsibilities of the day, so a good night’s sleep is essential.
Recently, I got a chance to try the ORBit Relaxation lamp made by Verilux.
The small ORBlie lamp transitions through a calming array of hues of the three primary colors. As I watch it shift from lavender to violet to green to turquoise then sapphire blue, from pink to red in a steady rhythm, I find myself getting sleepy and even yawning! It’s so peaceful, a light and color meditation that keeps my mind from flitting here and there.
You can also simply tap the top of the ORB and it shifts to a crisp Natural Spectrum white light which works as a mini-lantern in places where you might like some extra light. I have even used it to light my way to the bathroom at night. Tap it again and you turn it off. The lamp stays cool to the touch and uses batteries so there are no tangly cords.
You could even pop it in your backpack or purse and take it anywhere.
Did you know light therapy can be as effective for enhancing relaxation as it is for energy and focus? When many people hear the term “light therapy,” they think of lights that help increase energy and enhance mood, particularly during the winter months. While this is a very popular use for light therapy, it can be just as helpful for relaxation when using the right product.
Specs:
Energy efficient, long-life LED illumination (runs up to 100 hours in transitioning colors mode; up to 40 hours in Natural Spectrum mode)
Requires three AA batteries (not included)
Box measures: 3.84” x 3.84” x 4.16”
I really love this little gadget and it also provides a nice accent to whatever room you put it in. It also makes a great night light.
